Building the Hamilton

This is a portfolio of 35 photographs and five paintings by John Boak. The artist photographed the Hamilton Building during construction between early 2004 and the opening of the building in the autumn of 2006. This building is the first design of architect Daniel Libeskind to be constructed in America. Over the course of 45 sessions, Boak took 952 photographs. It was his intention from his first view of the site to make paintings of what he saw. The five oil paintings he created between 2005 and 2007 are shown in the last pages of this book.

The book is hardcover, 8"x10," with a dust jacket, 2011, 40 pages. $44.89

He designed for his Harvard friends as they worked in the theater, and later for a variety of clients, including scenic painting for various movies. This book was created by John Boak and Michael's wife Naomi Boak, a documentary video producer.

Guys and Dolls

Photos by Canyon Boak of a production of the famous musical by Denver's East High School theater. Mr. Boak shot with existing light using a low-f-stop Nikon lense. He shot often from the wings, and also, during rehearsal, from the stage itself, producing a series of intimate evocations of stage magic, rich in color and full of life. Hardcover with a dust jacket, or paperback, 7"x7, 24 pages, 2007, $16.95 and $28.95.
